[Press Release] Understanding the last 1/100 seconds before falling into a black hole
Shinya Yamada has found that an accreting gas falling into a black hole is heated instantly within 1/100 seconds, by applying a shot analysis technique into the Suzaku HXD data taken from a famous black hole binary Cygnus X-1. Further improvements on this study is expected from the next to Suzaku satellite, ASTRO-H, and the first X-ray polarimetry […]
Takao and Fumi Stay at NASA/GSFC
Dr. Takao Kitaguchi and Ms. Fumi Asami are staying at NASA Goddard Space Flight Cenber to join the GEMS satellite project until the end of Feb. Takao is constructing a simulator of polarimeter and will calibrate it with data. Fumi is working on the polarimeter development together with Asami who is a visiting scientist at […]
GEM paper on space use has been accepted
Iwahashi, who is a D2 student, have succeeded in compiling a paper on radio-avtive tolerance of gas electron multiplier foils (GEM), is accepted by IEEE. The detail is shown in Heavy Ion and Proton Irradiation of Gas Electron Multipliers With Liquid Crystal Polymer Insulator: Evaluation Tests for Use in Space. The GEM is used for […]
Japanese astronomical/physical conference
Most of members in Tamagawa group attended either Japanese Astronomical or Physical conference. We presented latest experimental results on GEM, and the scientific outputs obtained from supernova remnants, galaxies, and black holes.
MPGD conference
Dr. Tamagawa, Asami, Yoshikawa, Takeuchi attended MPGD conference. We presented the current status of GEMS satellite, and new-type GEM development, and properties on GEM.
